Who Are These Callers and Why Are They Calling?
Many of these companies are national firms with no ties to the area, so why are they calling? Net metering connects your solar system to the utility company’s power grid. Your system is creating energy during the day by harnessing it through the sun and then, this power is stored for use during the evening; the surplus power is transferred onto your utility company’s grid, thus allowing customers to offset the cost of energy and even make money from the power company, in many cases.
Another popular option is community solar, especially for commercial facilities and businesses. “With community solar, you are able to take your roof (something that would typically be costing you money) and turn it into a money-maker! “Your rooftop solar panels become a way to lease your roof,” says Manasse.
He added, “Another area where there is great ROI are batteries. Batteries offer the opportunity to store energy, and in many cases, supply energy to the utility company.”
How is Solar Good for the Environment if the Panels Cannot be Recycled?
With solar panels having an average lifespan of 30 years, where do the panel go after they have hit their lifespan? Well there is good news! Many panels are now recyclable; they will never end up in a landfill. “The SunPower solar panels that we use at Sunrise Solar are recyclable — SunPower has become Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) certified and part of a group that allows panels to be recycled. They are the only ones doing this,” says Manasse.
