Celebrate the Earth and Become More Eco-Conscious

If you’re like many of us and are trying to become more eco-conscious — especially with Earth Day coming up at the end of the month — now is the perfect time to launch your new environmentally-friendly lifestyle. To make environmental changes globally, we have to start at home and in your neighborhood. By taking an interest in what happens in our local communities, we can help improve the world’s environment as a whole.

Throughout the month of April and beyond, there are numerous things you can do to make a difference:

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!

This may be something you are already doing, but believe it or not, many people aren’t. Recycling is an easy and effective action that can yield many positive effects. Recycling not only helps you and your family, but the whole world — simultaneously improving the environment, economy and our oceans. Be sure to check in with your municipalities to see what type of recycling programs they offer.

Get Outside

This may seem like a no-brainer! The weather is nice, so why wouldn’t you want to spend time outside? And, being outside means that you are in your home or car less time, which saves on electricity and gas. Visit local parks, go on hikes, sign up for a race. Whether you are a seasoned runner or a novice, setting goals for a race this spring or summer is something you can look forward to.

Visit Farmers Markets

Buying sustainably and locally is key to becoming more eco-friendly. We are lucky to live in an area where many of our towns have farmers markets. Buying locally means reducing the amount of travel our food has, thus reducing gas and fuel emissions.

Switch to Solar

The best way to save money on your electric bill is to switch to solar power. In fact, the majority of our home and business clients are now happily receiving $0 energy bills.

As we head towards the spring and summer months, most of us worry about higher bills that include exorbitant air conditioning costs and an increased use of washing machines and other big appliances. Even small changes can add up to big savings!
