Solar is Hot, Hot this Summer!

Soaring Electric Bills and Smart Solar Savings Attract New Solar Customers

Did you know that electricity prices are at their highest during the summer months? And, as people become increasingly shocked by exorbitant electric bills and the inevitable summer power outages start rolling out – calls for solar installations are coming into our office at a sizzling hot pace!

Air conditioners consume the most energy of all home appliances — and with two-thirds of American homes using air conditioners, electricity use increases significantly, followed by skyrocketing energy rates.  Summer is the ideal time to consider a better, cleaner, cost-effective option: Solar Energy!

Solar is indeed the smartest choice for New York homeowners. Falling prices, combined with our “no money down” financing options, as well as federal and state tax incentives, make solar the best way to meet your energy needs.

No Money Down: Skip the Upfront Costs

We remove what is often the biggest barrier to going solar – the upfront cost. For qualified homeowners, we can use Sunpower’s in-house loan program to allow you to go solar with no money down. You’ll typically see savings of 20% to 40% right out of the gate – and the savings are projected to grow every year.

Federal incentives

The federal solar tax credit, also known as the investment tax credit (ITC), allows you to deduct 30 percent of the cost of installing a solar energy system from your federal taxes. The ITC applies to both residential and commercial systems, and there is no cap on its value.

State incentives

New York State offers a number of attractive incentives for going solar, including:

  • An upfront incentive from NYSERDA of about 20 percent of the cost of your system.
  • A 25% New York State tax credit. (Combine this and NYSERDA with the federal incentive and you can offset more than 65 percent of your costs!)
  • Exemption from state sales tax for residential solar installations
  • A 15-year property tax exemption for solar systems in most New York State localities, protecting homeowners from any increase in property taxes due to a solar installation.
